Leadership and the dirty work - leadership


The airline, Jet Blue, has been featured in many magazines as a new business that has hard great outcome and achievement so far. A lot too has been mentioned about the challenges they face ahead and about the civilization they produced at the start and are operational hard to cultivate now. One of the many belongings that sets Jet Blue apart is their focus on teamwork. Here's one example. They have no cleaning crews - every worker on the escape (including pilots and those not operational but on the flight) cleans up the plane. This saves time and money - both clothes very central to any business.

When I say all helps clean, I mean each - counting the CEO, David Neeleman. Neeleman helps the getaway followers hand out munchies and helps clean up. This takes Neeleman's words about cooperation and turns them into action. He is quoted as saying, "You can't ask employees to do amazing you aren't agreeable to do yourself. "

I cultured this example from my minister increasing up on a farm. There were many tasks I was asked to do - some of them much more disagreeable than preference up newspaper and snack wrappers on a plane - but all of them were done calculating that my Dad had done them and was agreeable to do them still, even if he had elevated priority work to do.

This is an awfully chief class for us as leaders. Being eager to do the grunt work, the dirty work (call it doesn't matter what you want - on the farm there was some VERY dirty work) builds dedication and shows that all of the work in the club is important.

As a leader, desire don't push this off aphorism you want to agent and make colonize accountable for their own work. Allocation and ownership is central to be sure. If you all the time allocate the disagreeable stuff, but at all times want to help with the more attractive tasks, your commentary of assignment will fall on deaf ears.

Help. Show up for clean up. Be a part of the team. These dealings will make you a develop leader.
